Before your orthopedic appointment: connect the images, the visit and the next step

A practical checklist for bringing existing images, clarifying costs and connecting your care plan to physical therapy.

Patient search and booking are not open. General information only; follow your treating team’s instructions.

Start with the receiving practice

Before booking, ask what information the practice needs for your visit. Confirm the location, clinician, referral requirements and exact insurance product, or request the self-pay terms. A carrier logo on a website does not answer every question about your own visit.

Ask about existing images before getting new ones

Tell the office where and when you last had imaging. Ask whether they need the complete image study, the radiologist’s report, or both, and how they accept them. A screenshot, a written report and the complete study are different things. Do not put records or portal passwords into a marketplace interest form.

Let the clinician decide whether new imaging is needed

Do not arrange an X-ray just because you are joining a waitlist or comparing practices. The decision and exact study belong with an appropriate clinician. The FDA recommends discussing why an examination is needed and whether prior images or other options can answer the clinical question. Read the FDA’s patient information on medical X-ray imaging.

Confirm the route back to your clinician

If a study is ordered at a separate imaging center, ask the center and receiving practice to confirm their image-transfer route. Ask who sends the final report, who checks that the images can actually be opened, and who you should contact about results. Access to your own patient portal does not by itself prove that the receiving clinician has the study.

Put the price in writing

For self-pay care, ask what the quoted amount includes: the examination, facility fees, interpretation and any separate charges. Ask the provider about a good faith estimate when applicable. CMS explains the estimate protections for people who do not have or are not using insurance. Read the CMS guide.

Leave the visit with an owner for the next step

Ask who arranges physical therapy, who provides your home exercise program, how instructions reach the treating therapist, and where to ask questions. Follow your treating team’s instructions. This checklist does not determine a diagnosis, imaging need, exercise prescription or urgency.

What BoneArc is building

The coming-soon marketplace is designed to connect practice discovery, appointments, care plans and follow-up with the existing BoneArc exercise and protocol platform. We are starting with established practices and their payer relationships. Patient discovery and booking are closed; the waitlist collects interest and launch-email permission only.
