When you first sign in, BoneArc asks for your consent. Here’s what that really means — in plain words — so you can decide with confidence. The choice is always yours.
The first time you open your home screen, BoneArc shows a screen called Consent & Privacy. It can feel like a lot of fine print, so here’s the short, honest version of what you’re being asked — and what happens either way.
You’re agreeing to let your care team see the recovery information you log, so they can watch how you’re healing between visits and step in if something looks off. That’s the heart of it. Everything else below is detail.
To support your recovery, the app collects a few simple things:
Your daily logs — pain, movement, swelling, and whether you did your exercises.
Short questionnaires (called PROMs) that appear at set points in your recovery.
Your recovery milestones and progress through your therapy plan.
Notes and messages from your provider.
The main toggle says “Share recovery data with my provider.” When it’s on, your assigned surgeon or physical therapist can view your daily logs, your questionnaire scores, your recovery graph, and any flags — the whole point being to guide your care. This is the part that makes BoneArc useful to your treatment.
You may also see a section about Remote Therapeutic Monitoring, or RTM. In plain terms: your provider reviews the data you log between visits and may reach out based on how you’re doing. Because this is a real clinical service, your provider may bill Medicare or your insurance for it — the same way they bill for an office visit. It doesn’t add a hidden charge you don’t know about; it’s ordinary, monitored care, just done remotely.
There’s one more toggle, “Contribute to orthopedic research.” This is completely optional and does not affect your care. If you turn it on, your data is stripped of everything that identifies you first — all 18 HIPAA identifiers are removed — so your name, email, and exact dates are never shared. You can leave it off, and nothing about your treatment changes.
• You may withdraw your consent at any time in Settings.
• You may request a copy of your data by contacting your provider.
• Withdrawing stops future data collection right away, and pauses any RTM billing immediately.
• Your care will not be affected by your consent choices.
Open Settings in the app and tap Withdraw Consent. The app confirms with you first, then stops collecting new data and pauses billing. You can turn it back on later if you’d like.
You can ask your provider for a copy of your information, or email privacy@bonearc.com with questions about your privacy, including deletion requests.
This page explains what the app asks and how your information is handled — it isn’t legal advice. If you have questions about what’s right for you, your care team is the best place to start, and the full Privacy Policy is always available to read.
