Getting started in the BoneArc app

Your care team asked you to use BoneArc to help track your recovery. Here’s how to get set up — one simple step at a time. It only takes a few minutes.

BoneArc is a free app for your iPhone that helps you and your care team keep an eye on how your recovery is going between visits. Setting it up is straightforward, and you don’t need to be “good with technology” — just follow along below.

FIRST

Have two things handy before you start: your email address, and the referral code your surgeon or physical therapist gave you (if they gave you one). The code often arrives by email — it’s a short string of letters and numbers.

Download and create your account
1

On your iPhone, open the App Store, search for BoneArc, and download it. It’s free.

2

Open the app and tap Register. Enter your full name, email, and a password (at least 8 characters). Pick something you’ll remember.

3

Choose your care type: Post-Surgical Recovery if you’ve had (or are having) surgery, or Managing a Condition if you’re being treated without surgery. Then pick your surgery or condition and its date. Not sure? Your provider can tell you which to choose.

Connect to your provider
4

In the Referral Code box, type the code from your provider. As the app says, “if your surgeon gave you a code, enter it here to connect automatically.” Didn’t get a code? You can still register now and connect later — see Connecting to your care team.

Accept the terms and finish
5

Under Legal & Privacy, tap to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and confirm you’re 18 or older. You can tap each link to read the full text first. Then tap Register.

6

BoneArc emails you to verify your email. Open the email and follow the steps to confirm it’s really you, then come back and sign in. That’s it — you’re in.

One more quick step after you sign in

The first time you open your home screen, BoneArc asks for your consent to share your recovery data with your care team. This is normal and expected — it’s how your surgeon or therapist can see how you’re doing.

We explain exactly what that means, in plain language, in What am I agreeing to? Take a moment to read it — the choice is yours, and your care is never affected by it.

A couple of things that might come up

“Verify your email” keeps showing

Check your inbox (and spam folder) for the email from BoneArc and follow the steps in it. You need to verify before you can sign in. The connection to your provider also finishes automatically once you verify.

You’d rather not type it all

On the registration screen you can tap Import from my health records to pull your surgery or condition details from your hospital’s patient portal. It’s optional — you can always enter everything by hand.

You’re all set. From here, your day-to-day is simple: open the app, do your quick daily check-in, and follow your home exercises. If anything looks confusing, your care team is there to help.
