Registering patients with a referral code

Generate a referral code, send it to your patient, and when they enter it during sign-up they connect straight to your panel — no manual linking.

A referral code is how a patient joins your panel instead of landing in BoneArc unconnected. You generate the code, the patient enters it when they register in the app, and BoneArc automatically links them to you. There are two kinds — one tied to a single patient, one you can reuse.

FIRST

Both kinds of code live on one page: Referral Codes in the left menu. From there you can make a code for one specific patient, or a general one you can hand to anyone.

Make a patient-specific code
1

In the left menu, open Referral Codes, then click Patient-Specific Code.

2

Choose the patient type — Post-Surgical (a 90-day global period applies) or Managing a Condition (RTM active from day 1).

3

Enter the Patient Name and Patient Email — the code is delivered to that address. Then add the Surgery Type and Surgery Date (or, for a condition, the Diagnosis and Diagnosis Date). You can also set an optional Code Expires date.

4

Click Generate & Send Code. BoneArc creates the code and emails it to that patient. If you leave the email blank, it warns you the code won’t be delivered automatically — copy it and share it yourself.

Make a reusable provider code
1

On the same Referral Codes page, click Provider Code.

2

A general code is created instantly. It shows as a General Provider Code with unlimited uses — any patient can register with it.

3

Share it however you like: Copy the code, or use Print Flyer to print a patient handout with the code in large type and a QR code.

Patient-specific vs. provider code

Patient-specific code

Tied to one patient and emailed directly to them — only they can redeem it, and it works once. It carries their surgery or diagnosis and dates, so their plan is set the moment they register. You can give it an expiry.

Provider code

Unlimited and reusable — hand it to anyone, print it on a flyer, leave it at the front desk. Any patient can register with the same code, and each one lands on your panel.

How the patient uses it
Self-register, auto-connect

Tell the patient to download the BoneArc app and enter the referral code during registration. That’s the whole step on their end.

When they register with the code, BoneArc automatically links them to you — they appear in your patient panel with no manual matching. For a patient-specific code, the surgery or diagnosis you entered is already attached to their record.

Every code you’ve made stays visible on the Referral Codes page with its status — Pending until it’s used, then Registered — so you can see at a glance who has joined.

Already in the app but not connected?

If a patient is already registered in the BoneArc app but not on your panel, you don’t need a new code — use Link Existing Patient on the same page and enter their registered email. They approve the connection, and then appear in your panel.

Use a patient-specific code when you’re onboarding one person by email, and a provider code when you want a single shareable code for your whole practice. Either way, the patient does the sign-up and connects to you automatically.
