For joint-replacement patients: capture which device was placed, right on the chart. It takes a moment from the operative note — and it’s how this case’s outcomes attribute to the specific implant system.
When you place a knee, hip, or shoulder replacement, BoneArc can track this patient’s recovery by the specific device you used. All it needs is a quick note of what went in. This applies only to joint-replacement (arthroplasty) cases — not to non-operative patients or non-replacement procedures.
The prompt appears only after the surgery date — the implant is only known once surgery has happened. Have the operative note or OR implant log handy; that’s where these details come from. Entry is strongly encouraged but never blocks the chart.
Open the patient: Patients → click the patient → Patient Detail.
For a post-op arthroplasty patient with no implant on file, an amber Record implant card sits at the top of the chart, marked Action needed. A one-time pop-up also offers it — click Record implant to open the form, or expand the card itself.
For each component, choose the Manufacturer… then the System… — for example Zimmer Biomet → Persona. The component rows depend on the joint (see below).
Set the case-level choices that apply to the construct — for a knee, Fixation and Constraint; for a hip, Bearing surface.
If a manufacturer or system isn’t listed, choose Other (specify) and type the name — it’s still captured.
Click Save implant. The card turns calm and reads Implant recorded; you can reopen it and Edit later.
The Femoral component and Tibial component (both required), plus the Patella if it was resurfaced (optional). Case-level: Fixation (Cemented / Cementless / Hybrid) and Constraint (CR / PS).
Pick the Femoral stem. The acetabular cup’s manufacturer is inferred from the stem automatically — there’s no separate cup pick. Case-level: Bearing surface.
Implant identity is only at your fingertips while the operative details are fresh. Recording it takes seconds, and each captured case advances that implant system’s outcome evidence.
What you record feeds device-level outcome analytics — shown on the Analytics page under Implant mix. Results for an implant system populate as your case volume grows, so an early panel reading “preliminary” is expected, not missing data.
One short entry per joint-replacement case. Over time it turns your panel into your own device-level outcome record — grounded in exactly what you implanted, patient by patient.
